Service on race day

The 2025 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run takes place on Thursday June 19th. Here you can find information about the service available for runners on race day.

    Timing

The timing chip is built into the race bib. Mats will be located at the start/finish line where participants will run over. No race bib = no time. Each chip has a number in our database which is linked to an individual runner. Timing starts when a participant runs over the mat and finishes when he runs over it again when finishing the race. Chip time therefore gives an accurate time for the assigned runner regardless of his position at the start.

    Prizes

First three men, women and non-binary in all distances will get a prize medal and gifts from the race sponsors. Age group prizes will also be given. See further information about prizes here.

    Course patrol

Around 100 staff members will be working on the course on race day. They will guide the runners and control the traffic. Runners should study the race map because there will be parts of the course where no staff is visible, for example in the direct sections.

    Medical service

First aid will be available by the finish line, in the case of an emergency ambulance will be called. It is recommended that runners write a name and telephone number of a friend or family member that should be called in case of emergency on the back of the bib number.

    Drinking stations

Participants will be able to quench their thirst every 5K. Ölgerdin provides Gatorade drinks and water for the drinking stations. See detailed location of the drinking stations on the race map.

    Parking

Participants that arrive by car can park by Laugardalshöll sports hall when picking up the race number. It is recommended to park by street Suðurlandsbraut just before the race since road Engjavegur will be closed some parts of the evening.

    Midnight swimming

Close by the start and finish of the race is one of the city’s wonderful geothermal outdoor swimming pools, Laugardalslaug. All participants are invited to the swimming pool, hot tubs and steam baths after the race. The pool is open to the public so your friends and family can join you and pay the entry fee in the pool. It's a perfect way to relax after a successful race in the midnight sun.

    Pictures

Photographers will take pictures of runners, they will try to get pictures of as many participants as possible.

    STORAGE

The bag storage in Skautahöll is open from 19:30-00:00. Participants can leave their bag in storage in Skautahöll, ice-skating rink. The belongings will be guarded but responsibility is not guaranteed for any valuables or money left in the storage area. Attached to the bib number is a bag tag to fasten to your bag. One bag per participant.

    Pace area

It is important that participants estimate their running pace and place themselves in the appropriate pace area at the start. This is done to avoid congestion and collisions during the first kilometres. Flags will be on the side of the start area indicating the estimated finish time

Those who are not sure how fast their running pace will be should choose to start in the backmost area.

On race day all participants should be able to find their appropriate area according to the plan
